The 17th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival is taking place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 along the Schuylkill River race course in Fairmount Park. In order for race day to run smoothly and successfully it is important for us to put together a team of dedicated volunteers. Our Volunteers do many tasks:
Dock Marshalls (3 volunteers helping paddlers in and out of one of 3 boats)
Held Starts (perched on 8 docks across the river to hold the boats in line before the race starts)
Marshalling/holding area
Team Check in
Volunteer Check in
Golf Cart Drivers
Assisting Police at Barricades
Volunteer Food
As we thought about volunteers for our 2018 Festival, it occurred to us that there may be an opportunity to partner with local high school and college rowing programs, service groups, and other types of organizations. In appreciation for providing volunteers for race day, we will donate $1,000 to your program or cause.
Volunteers stay from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm or whenever race day is over. We ask that a school, organization or team sends us a minimum of 15 volunteers. We require someone to oversee the group during the entire length of the day.
We are eager to bring together another team of enthusiastic volunteers for this year’s Festival, and hope that your program will be part of the excitement.
If you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss the details of your commitment to our Festival on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Sincerely yours,
Carol Lee Lindner
