All team practices are required to have a PIDBF-ApprovedSteersperson. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Any team that violates this rule will not be permitted to participate in our Festival on Saturday, October 7, 2017. For-Hire Steersperson Fee: $50.00.
The PIDBF-ApprovedSteersperson is in charge of and responsible for your boat at all times. His/her commands must be obeyed to insure everyone’s safety.
As stated on our registration form: “Every team is required to provide one drummer/coach and one steersperson to assist in training its crew.” In order for a team to use its own steersperson, that steersperson must be approved by a PIDBF volunteer and also be included on the PIDBF’s list of PIDBF-ApprovedSteerspeople.
Steerspeople not included on the list of PIDBF-Approved Steerspeople must attend the Steerspeople Clinics so that they can be approved and added to the list.
If a team captain believes they have a steersperson who has been approved but is not on the PIDBF-approvedsteerspeople list, the captain should contact the PIDBFSteersperson Coordinator (Robin Parker, firstname.lastname@example.org) including the name of that steersperson and the trainer who approved him/her. The PIDBFSteersperson Coordinator will let the Captain know if that person has been approved or must be seen again.
B. Conducting practices
In the past, there have been problems with teams returning to the docks late and delaying the start of the next team’s practice. If for any reason your practice does not start on time, your team is still responsible for returning to the docks on time so that the next team can start its practice as scheduled. If your team prevents another team from starting on time, your team will be penalized by having its next practice cancelled.
Remember, steerspeople are volunteers. They are taking time out of their busy schedules, some of them driving very long distances to help your team. Please give your volunteers the respect that they deserve.
